Furniture connectors for precise connections
Furniture construction requires connection systems that are stable, resilient and easy to assemble at the same time. This is exactly why there are special furniture connectors that hold components together precisely and can be released again if required. Whether for kitchens, tables or cabinet furniture - they ensure a secure construction without the need for gluing.
- High stability even under heavy loads
- Detachable connections without glue
- Self-centring for a perfect fit
- Systems for furniture, shop and exhibition stand construction
- Quick installation, easy assembly and transport
Flexible connection systems for furniture and interior design
Various furniture connectors are used in furniture and interior design, which impress with their long tightening travel and optimum compression. This means that even heavy constructions can be assembled reliably. The easy handling is practical: furniture parts can be quickly assembled, transported and reassembled later - without loss of quality and with low transport volumes.
Precise timber connectors for a wide range of applications
Scheulenburg furniture connectors are divided into systems with different functions. Each system offers its own steel dowel variants, which are always compatible with the housing and threaded pin of the respective series. This creates clear standards that facilitate installation and ensure a reliable connection.
Blunt corners: secure connection with steel dowels
With butt joints, two components meet at right angles. Straight steel dowels are used here, which are inserted into precisely fitting holes. They create a form-fit connection, prevent the panels from slipping and reliably transfer high forces. Particularly for carcasses or cabinet systems, this creates a stable, detachable construction that fits precisely and permanently.
Mitre joints: flexible angles with hinge dowels
Mitre joints are more demanding, as the components can be positioned at any angle to each other. Hinged dowels are used for this purpose, which record the alignment and automatically guide them to the correct dimension when tightened. This solution is ideal for frame elements, fronts or constructions where a clean joint is required at different angles. Hinged dowels offer the same stability as rigid connectors, but can be used more flexibly.
Centre panels & partitions: concealed, backlash-free, removable
Concealed double dowel solutions and matching housings provide a secure hold for centre panel connections. They prevent lateral movement and create a backlash-free clamping. The advantage: carcasses remain easy to service, shelves and compartments can be adapted later. The uniform compression of all components also increases the stability of the furniture.
Panel joints: high tightening distance for the surface
Where large surfaces need to be pressed cleanly, fastening solutions with a noticeable tightening travel really come into their own. The component is tightened until the joint and surface are just right - without glue and without visible screws. This speeds up installation, holds permanently and ensures a smooth joint pattern. All that remains visible is a small hole for the grub screw. Another advantage is the automatic centring of the joints.
Table frames & table legs: resilient, modular and easy to assemble
Connectors that can withstand repeated disassembly and safely transfer forces to the frame are required for table legs, frames and bases. Systems such as the XS connector can be used here when structures are subject to heavy loads.

Detachable connections: flexible and easy to service
A major advantage of Scheulenburg systems is their detachability. Furniture can be completely dismantled as required without damaging connections or components. This significantly reduces the transport volume, as parts can be stacked flat to save space. Individual elements can be replaced in the event of damage or conversions. Assembly and disassembly are also completed quickly - the fittings are designed for repeated screw connections and remain a perfect fit over the long term.
Which furniture connectors are available?
Furniture connectors are available in various designs, depending on the area of application. Corner connectors that connect components at a 90° angle are classic. Hinged dowels that can accommodate variable angles are used for mitres. Body connectors with a defined tightening path are suitable for precisely pressing surfaces such as sides, bases and lids. There are also special solutions for centre panels, table frames or stairs. In practice, a distinction is also made between concealed fittings, which remain invisible from the outside, and visible connecting elements such as brackets or cross nut bolts. The choice of the right fastener depends on the load, the desired appearance and the panel thicknesses.
How do I calculate the mitre angle?
The mitre angle results from the desired connection angle of the two components. The following applies: The mitre angle is always half of the connection angle. For a 90° angle, cut both components to 45°. If you want to create a 120° angle, the mitre angle is 60°. In the workshop, the angle is either measured directly on the workpiece using an angle bevel or calculated using (180° - desired joint angle) ÷ 2. It is important that both parts are cut at exactly the same angle so that the joint closes properly.
Are there suitable drilling tables for the connectors?
Yes, detailed drilling and angle tables are available for each connection system. All relevant dimensions such as drilling diameters, distances and depths are precisely specified in these tables. These tables make work in the workshop easier and ensure that housings, pins and dowels are positioned with millimetre precision. You will also find the right information for mitres to precisely implement the desired angles.
Are there accessories for the connectors?
Yes, there is a comprehensive range of accessories for installation. These include specially adapted drilling jigs and templates with which the drilling patterns can be produced quickly and reproducibly. Suitable drill bits in the required diameters are also available. With these accessories, the connections can be realised particularly efficiently and flawlessly - both for custom-made products and in series production.
